Redwood City

I-5 North

I drove 370 miles this morning and arrived Redwood City in Northern California. I will stay Days Inn for 4 nights. This city should be in Silicon Valley, but the motel's Internet is terrible. There is no vending machine, no refrigerator. The room has shower room only, no bath tube. Oh my goodness, I can't stay in this kind of motel for 4 nights. Room rate is cheap but the room is cheap too.

Pacific Coast Tour

I will leave Los Angeles for San Francisco by car tomorrow morning. Of course this is a business trip, not a vacation. I will stay in Redwood City and plan to visit San Francisco Downtown, San Jose, Mendocino, Monterey and Carmel by the Sea. I will come back on Wednesday, visiting Santa Cruz, San Simeon and Morro Bay. It will be a really hard schedule.

Fireworks on July 4th

Fireworks on July 4th started at around 9pm. I can see them from my apartment. I cerebrate July 4th as Americans do.

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day! I'm having an ale, Yulesmith Holiday Ale by Alesmith Brewing Company in San Diego, which I bought at the brewery last week. This is really nice ale with 8.5% alcohol. I almost get slightly tipsy on just a pint of ale before July 4th dinner. Of course I'm alone, so not a big dinner, small dinner in my apartment.

Electric Sitar

Wikipedia says "Because the tone quality and playing technique differ significantly from that of the sitar, it is not used by classical musicians, but typically by rock, jazz, fusion, and other pop music groups. Notably, Eric Burdon and the Animals song "Monterey", B.J. Thomas featured its sound on "Hooked on a Feeling" in 1969, on the riffs to "It's a shame (song)" by the Spinners in 1970, and The Stylistics made frequent use of it in the 1970's. It was also used by Yes, Todd Rundgren, Lenny Kravitz, R.E.M, Metallica, Steely Dan, Santana, Roy Wood from The Move, Steve Vai, Pat Metheny and Mint Royale."

Neil Young plays Electric Sitar on Pegi Young's debut album. I should have taken photo of his sitar at Attic, Santa Cruz, where Pegi and Neil Played. Which model of his Electric Sitar? Coral Sitar Guitar seems to be one of the most famous Electric Sitar. It is said Coral gave first two models to George Harrison and John Lennon. Original model costs around $3500 now.

Pegi Young

I got Pegi Young's CD today from Amazon. We don't have to say this is Neil's wife's album. Pegi is Pegi. This is a really good folk rock album. Bob Dylan said "the time's they are a-changing", but there is a music which never change.

This CD has a bonus track, "Wrestle Awhile". It starts a few minutes after "I'm Not Through Loving You Yet". I almost missed it.

The Road to Escondido

"The Road to Escondido", if you hear this and remember it's the title of J.J.Cale and Eric Clapton's collaboration album, you are a very good music fan. I also have this album and are wondering where Escondido is. Escondido is here. After my business I visited Downtown Escondido and then, Stone Brewing Company in Escondido, one of the top American micro breweries. Oh, Alesmith Brewing Company is also one of the top. I bought some ales at both breweries. I can show them next time.

Torrey Pines Beach, La Jolla, Old Town San Diego

I started my business at 9:30am. I went south again. Before taking I-5, I stopped at Torrey Pines Beach. There is one of the most famous municipal golf courses there, Torrey Pines Golf Course. There is PGA tour, Buick Invitational, at South Course, Tiger Woods won this year. There will be U.S. Open in 2008 here at Torrey Pines.

I went south and arrived La Jolla shopping street. I found good prospects there. Then I went to Old Town San Diego. I also found good prospects here. After that I visited some customers in north San Diego. My business seems to be something about tourist business, doesn't it? Or do I just travelling around for holiday? No, it's actually my business.

At around 3pm, I finished my business. But I have visit one more place. Continued...
