I made money on Google

I sold a few shares of Google (GOOG) this morning. I bought them in February below $470 and could sell above $500 today. In February, I believed it would be over $500 again. Not much, but I got play fee for one round of golf at a very good course. Not bad, isn't it?

Timbuktu

I worked very hard today. Yes, I am working very hard not only today, everyday, of course, you know. I worked out Timbuktu this afternoon. I didn't know anything about this software before, but I have to control my Mac in Atlanta from my office in Los Angeles, so I installed Timbuktu Pro by Netopia. This is a kind of P2P software, isn't it?

Tomorrow morning, I will leave Los Angeles for Atlanta again. I will attend the sales meeting. I prepared presentation material as well today. I will come back in the late evening on Saturday and leave Los Angeles for Las Vegas by my car in very early morning on Sunday. I will stay one night in Las Vegas.

I had a lot of trouble on Verizon again

I had a lot of trouble on Verizon again. I couldn't connect DSL in the morning. Verizon didn't send me any email about activation of DSL at my office. Scheduled activation was on May 25. Remember that they don't tell us any information if we don't ask them.

Anyway, a technician came to my office at 2pm, and went back to their central office to fix it. I could connect to Internet at around 4pm finally. Oh, it took more than one month to activate DSL since I ordered DSL in April.

I had one more trouble today. I need to set up voice mail on the phone in my office. But automatic system of Verizon said my office telephone number was not available number. What's the hell!? I called dumb customer service again. They called and told me after one hour that I could set up voice mail. Finally I could get full phone service and DSL connection.

Memorial Day

Today, Monday, is Memorial Day Holiday in U.S.A. But I went to my office at around 10am. I still got a lot of things to settle. I had to make a presentation material too. Sales meeting will be held on June 2. I have to go to Atlanta again on this weekend. But the flight will not be red-eye this time. Thank goodness!

CDs at Starbucks

All The Roadrunning/Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris, Unplugged/Neil Young (VHS)

One of my music pal in Japan asked me to send All The Roadrunning/Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris and Unplugged/Neil Young (VHS). I worked on them this morning. I like Knopfler's guitar, which is like J.J.Cale's. I like Harris's vocal, which has not been changed a lot for decades.

Izumi Sakai, the vocalist of ZARD, died

Izumi Sakai, the vocalist of ZARD died at 3:20pm JST, May 27, 2007. I have a couple of CDs of ZARD and I sometimes sing her song at Karaoke bar. Oh my goodness, she had a cancer, but she plunged her death at the hospital. It was a kind of inexplicable death. Good God! I believe she is one of the top female song writers and vocalists in Japan.

Coming back to LA

My DL 75 departed at ATL on time and after about 5 hours, I safely arrived at LAX. I bought Sashimi and other Japanese foods at Japanese Market, Marukai, near my apartment. I can say again, Torrance is not U.S.A. My friend said it is a kind of a city like Nagoya in Japan, with many American people.

From ATL to LAX

I am in Atlanta Airport now. Delta flight 75 will be departed at Gate 12, which is very convenient because it is very near to Starbucks, Samuel Adams beer restaurant. I am drinking Summer Ale, not a latte, of course.

Lake Hartwell, South Carolina

I am now in a rent-a-house in Lake Hartwell, SC at Georgia boader. Real nice place to stay during memorial day holiday. This is an annual company trip. We have a private pier down there. Oh, I can forget every trouble I had in LA these days.

At LAX

I am now in Los Angeles International Airport. I will be leaving LA for Atlanta by red eye flight. There will be a company trip from tomorrow evening.

Tosatsuru Junmai-Ginjo

I have Tosatsuru Junmai-Ginjo shu now. Junmai-Ginjo shu is premium sake which is made only using pure rice and carefully fermented to create a refreshingly fruity aroma and mild flavor. This is a gift from my friend in Japan who came to LA on the last weekend. Thank you, Mr. H!

Gordon Biersch Marzen

I have Gordon Biersch Marzen this evening. Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, San Jose, California was near to my office when I have stayed in San Jose. They had a nice restaurant too. I will visit again sometime in near future.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

I have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale now. I ran out ale. So I bought them at Seven Eleven next to my apartment. It's very convenient but they don't have many kinds of ale. But it's OK, because Sierra Nevada is one of my favorites.

Valencia Country Club

"Nestled within the foothills of the Santa Clarita Valley, lies a celebrated masterpiece built from the vision of acclaimed golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Valencia Country Club is celebrating its "40th Anniversary" and its status as a rare, private Club experience. At Valencia, Members and guests escape the stress of day-to-day life while enjoying its championship 18-hole course, which has been honored by the presence of some of "golf legends".

Golf Digest named the course at Valencia Country Club as one of the top 25 golf courses in the state of California. In recent years, Valencia Country Club has hosted major events, such as the PGA TOUR's Nissan Open and the PGA TOUR's SBC Senior Classic five years in a row -- a true testament to the caliber of Valencia's championship golf course." says Valencia Country Club.

I have played here a few times in 1999-2000. Very famous private golf course in Greater Los Angeles area. I played very well today, with 42-43 from white tees, 6305 yards. Average golfer's swing changes everyday, I'm sure.

Ryuji Imada lost play off with Zach Johnson at today's AT&T Classic in Duluth, Georgia. I watched TV on or around 13th hole, and I teed off at Valencia, so I could not cheer for him. I believe he will win the tournament sometime in future.

Lakewood Country Club

"Ryuji Imada, 74th in FedExCup points entering the AT&T Classic, is tied for the lead after three rounds and is threatening to become only the third Japan-based golfer to win an official PGA TOUR tournament. Isao Aoki won the Hawaiian Open in 1983 and Shigeki Maruyama has three career victories: the Greater Milwaukee Open in 2001, the Verizon Byron Nelson Classic in 2002, and the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro in 2003." said PGA.com today. I saw him for the first time at the driving range of Pebble Beach Golf Links at 100th U.S.Open in 2000. He has been gradually getting his position in PGA Tour. I hope he will win the tournament at TPC Sugar Loaf, where I played last month.

I played at Lakewood Country Club today. Public course in Lakewood, California. It takes about 20 minutes from Torrance. Very flat but greens are tough. Par 3s are long, even from white tees, 6416 yards. Par 3 of white tees are 139 yards, 196 yards, 203 yards and 178 yards. Don't ask my score. I made below 100, although my driver shots were terrible. There were a lot of 5 sums here, and it took more than 5 hours for 18 holes!

I went to my office this morning. I still have a lot of things to settle. Tomorrow, Sunday, of course I will go to my office.

DSL with Static IP connection postponed

Verizon's customer service emailed me yesterday morning, and I was struck speechless to hear "It appears your order has been moved out to May 25, 2007. You will be receiving your welcome letter by May 23, 2007". I will not be angry about customer service any more. Scheduled date was May 16 but now May 25! There was no information from Verizon. If I don't ask them, they don't tell me. This is "customer service" in America.

Anyway today is Saturday. I will go to my office in the morning and go to Lakewood Country Club, Lakewood CA in the afternoon. I was invited to join, so I thought it was a private course, but I found it public. I bought Titleist's x59 stand bag yesterday. This bag is designed for women and juniors with ultra light weight, only 3.7Lbs. I like walking golf, so this is realy good for me too.

In the evening, Jesse Winchester will perform at Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara, CA. I may go there.

What the hell is going on in Verizon?

Yesterday, long-awaited two phone jacks (one is for phone, the other is for DSL/fax) in my suite were installed. It took more than three weeks since I ordered. Verizon's customer service is very very poor. DSL was scheduled to be available on May 16, but I got no notice about IP address and other setting information. I called 1-888 of Verizon Business three times. Every time their customer services could not reply my inquiry and tried to transfer other department. Finally my calls were transferred 1-888 again and again. What the hell is going on in Verizon? I emailed directly to customer service about my inquiry and told that their customer service was terrible.

BOB DYLAN ON XM RADIO

I got Pioneer's Portable Satellite Radio, inno™. I've been listening to channel 40, Deep Tracks, which is a classic rock channel. 10am ET, Wednesday, Bob Dylan hosts the channel for 1 hour. Wow, his DJ is unbelievably wonderful. It seems he reads a poem aloud with expression. I recorded it, of course.

Atlantic 60th Anniversary

I found thic CD at Starbucks in Del Amo Fashion Center near my office and apartment. At that time I didn't buy it, but kept it in my mind. Next time when I went there, it disappeared. Oh my goodness, I forgot the word, "Buy it when you want". So I ordered it via Starbucks' website.

Alondra Golf Course

I played at Alondra Golf Course, owned by Los Angeles County, today. Tee time was 3:30pm, twilight play fee was only $19.50. This is a very very flat course without water. But there are a lot of elevated greens, so it is so tough to hit green from blue tees, 6577 yards. It took 2 and half hours for 9 holes with 5 players, and I played last 3 holes in the dark. Anyway, this is a kind of practice course. I will be back here.

Los Verdes Golf Course

I played at Los Verdes Golf Course, which is owned by Los Angeles County and operated by American Golf. I arrived the course just before sunrise and I waited for my tee time for one and half hours. Oh my goodness! It is said this course is very busy, but I remember that there is nobody at golf courses in Atlanta before sunrise. Anyway, play fee is only $28 and the course itself is very good, with wonderful sea view. This may be my home course here in Los Angeles.

Angeles National Golf Club

I'm now setting up my small office and my apartment. It was so busy last week to assemble office furniture's. I was a DIY man last week. I went to my office today, Sunday too. I found free but unsecured wireless network there, although Verizon would set up DSL soon. I worked alone for a few hours in the office and went to buy foods, ale and red wine in Ralphs .

After lunch in my apartment, I decided to go to Angeles National Golf Club. I should not play here. Jack Nicklaus designed 2004 course, narrow fairways and very fast greens. Nature Habitat Areas in both side, so only straight hitter can play out here. I lost more than 10 balls.
